Metalancer is a unique NFT collection, consisting of 10,000 pieces, an ode to decentralization in an intergalactic, dystopian future. Metalancer is more than an NFT collection - it’s an artistic effort that transpires the web3 spirit against centralization. The collection will provide creatives with immense utility, acting as a Licensing Platform for Digital Artworks or an exclusive comic book reader.

Metalancer is the brainchild of an established web3 project, as Codemelt was tasked with both the technical and creative aspects of the project. From a development perspective, Codemelt built the Metalancer landing page, as well as the smart contracts behind the NFTs. In terms of creative direction, Codemelt’s work was to build the entire Metalancer universe, setting the project’s visual direction, custom illustration, lore, and more.

Over the course of a year, three dedicated artists have poured their talent into developing the unique hand-drawn style of the Metalancer collection. With a keen eye for every detail, the final collection has been reworked too many times, as Codemelt’s creative professionals were focused on perfection. From color palettes to anatomic details and face shots, nine distinct traits were selected to build a Metalancer.

Drawing inspiration from pop culture elements, such as renowned fashion shows, universal accessories and overall a cyberpunk aesthetic, the Metalancer collection embodied eclecticism and diversity, while ensuring all characters belonged to a common timeline and goal, through the inclusion of web3-specific references. This creative endeavor resulted in all traits blending seamlessly together, creating the 8 unique warriors fighting for decentralization.

The collection has a subtle, yet unifying theme that displays cultural symbols, recognizable across generations, both for Gen Z and individuals nostalgic about the 90s. The creative direction Codemelt developed for the Metalancer collection highlights the core message of inclusion and diversity, providing endless choices that would reflect the values, ideas and energy of the target audience.
